Crocheted Scrivener Shawl

If you’re an adventurous crocheting beginner and you want to dive in on something that will build your skills in a big way, this two-session class with Miranda is for you!

$60 registration fee (class materials to be purchased at PBYS separately)

Seating is limited! Please reserve yours by clicking thru here!

First session: Sunday, April 23rd; 10:00am—12:00noon

Second session: Sunday, May 7th; 10:00am—12:00noon

Here’s how Miranda sees the sessions playing out:

“In the first session, we’ll use the Scrivener Shawl pattern by Corin Purefoy as your introduction to decoding a crochet pattern. You’ll work the initial rows while practicing reading your work, shaping the sides of the shawl with increases, and learning stitches beyond single and double crochets. (Bead stitch! Front post double crochet! Back post double crochet!) You’ll leave knowing everything necessary to complete Row 22 of the shawl on your own.

For the second session, we’ll pick up with Row 23, incorporating two new stitches, the half-double-crochet and the v-stitch, and continuing to practice reading our crochet. By the end of the second session, we’ll have covered everything you need to finish the shawl at home.

Class Materials

PATTERN: Scrivener by Corin Purifoy

 RECOMMENDED YARNS:

Approximately 850 yards of a fingering weight yarn. Your mileage may vary! To make the sample, Miranda’s sample is made with three skeins of Universal Yarn Magnolia in the color “Golden Sand.”

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS: The pattern calls for an H hook. The sample was made with a G, because the yarn will stretch when blocked and not spring back the way something with wool content will.

One locking stitch marker, as per the pattern. Darning needle.

Please purchase all materials at PBYS ahead of time and bring them with you to the first class.
